Building with Python/Django

There are many many many WordPress sites out there. And (sometimes) for good reason, too! WordPress can often perform well when it comes to SEO. Alternatively, if you write up your own HTML pages, it's easy to miss the important parts of the technical aspects of SEO, such as filling out the title tag, h1-h6 structure, meta tags, etc. Also, WordPress has a dashboard that allows a user to easily update content.

With all that said, why would I even mention Django? For two great reasons:

1- Django allows major customization for unique situations 2- Django also has an admin panel, which allows the website owner to update content

The Django admin is not the same as the WordPress dashboard, but it is quite powerful, and has saved website owners in many situations.

Imagine that your new project is very database heavy. You might have lots of data that you need to store, display, and relate to other fields. You might have a hard time doing this in WordPress if there isn't already a plugin available to do what you want.

Plus, Django is just awesome. I know, that’s a terrible argument, but seriously, when you do something awesome, and it works out, the reward is far more than if you take the road more frequently traveled.

Also, Django is based on the Python programming language. Python is great for development because of its structure, syntax, readability, and also the extensive library of options available for implementing additional functionality to any Python/django application. Did you know that many of the popular AI tools are Python based?

We Host Sites, Too!

Having a site developed and built is different than having a site hosted. One thing you need to realize is that web hosting is an ongoing cost. It could be cheap, or pricey. But whatever path you choose, you might consider having a web host that can help you out in the ways that we do (check out our website maintenance package).

Since we operate our own infrastructure, we have control of essentially the entire delivery mechanism (except the Internet routers between us and a couple other variables). We can set custom website headers, mime-types, gzip compression levels, server software, etc, etc. So if you have a custom or unique need, we likely can take care of it. And in many cases, we'll likely come in a whole lot cheaper than some of those public cloud providers.

Also, if you just need site migration, then we handle that, too. We enjoy working with database servers and migrating data (just don't tempt us to do it in Python if it's not necessary).

Content Moderation

Importantly, once a website is built, all is not always well in Zion. Often your content will need to be moderated. Whether that means removing spam comments, fixing typos, or updating which pieces of data are sent to the user. Some changes are simple, some are complex and require a developer (which could depend on the framework you end up with).

Oftentimes when a website owner wants to improve their SEO, they might take their existing content, but add/alter/remove parts of it, in order to meet current goals. Depending on your needs, this process could require a developer to change or fix certain aspects of the content or presentation.
